by Robert Norse

Kresge course instructor Franklin Williams puts his class to work doing community service work. For some time, sitting on the HSC Board of Directors, Franklin kept a close eye on gthe Homeless Servics Center (HSC). In this in-studio interview he exposes health, safety, and candor problems that the Board continues to ignore. 9 AM on Free Radio Santa Cruz 101.1 FM and http://www.freakradio.org . Call in: 831-427-3772.
Coming up on the combined 6 hour Wake-Up Call/Bathrobespierre's Broadsides show:

Homeless Mike Gets Peppersprayed by Metro Security (8:15 AM);

In-studio guest Franklin Williams discusses health and safety abuses at the HSC--locked out of the kitchen for exposing rats in the pantry! (9 AM)

Fresno Activists Take a Santa Cruz Tour of Shame (10 AM),

The Sleeping Ban Debate--Vice-Mayor Coonerty vs. ACLU's Don Zimmerman and Sleeping Ban Lawsuit attorney Kate Wells (a replay with commentary of last Sunday's Voice from the Village Live! Debate from Community TV) with disruptive commentary by host Robert Norse and his guests (11 AM)

[The Sleeping Ban Debate (without Norse commentary) is archived as a video at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/11/14/18461204.php with commentary from Tim Rumsford, Becky Johnson, and others]

Also in the wings: Measure K Commissioner Anita Henri, hopefully on deck to assess the Commission's prospects for actually overseeing police marijuana busts to ensure that they are truly the lowest enforcement priority--as mandated by the voters.
[noon]

Plus: flashbacks from the 80's and 90's of earlier homeless struggles, the latest sidewalk chatter from the Boycott Bigotry weekly Sunday 2 PM tabling outside Coonerty's Bookshop Santa Cruz, a petition to the Santa Cruz City Council demanding protection from the LBAM-spray for homeless people when the aerial experiments in toxicology resume!

Bonus interview (if we have time) with Pastor Dennis Adams of the Potter's Hand on How the Downtown Association and Parks and Recreation Department have tried to shut down his homeless feeding program.

With updates on the latest attacks on homeless vets, and the ACLU's continued silence on the City's anti-homeless Sleeping Ban.

Hit the street after the show and join us 2-4 PM in front of the Bookshop Santa Cruz to protest continued harassment of the homeless under the City's Sleeping Ban, compliments of Vice-Mayor Ryan Coonerty. 1520 Pacific on the sidewalk in front of the Bookshop.
